Beauties, Beasts and Baracades
Bournemouth GaSP (Gilbert and Sullivan Productions) is delighted to announce its Spring Concert Tour, entitled Beauties, Beasts and Barricades, which showcases popular solos, ensembles and choruses in a musical extravaganza that takes in everything from Olde Tyme Music Hall to the latest Broadway and West End Musical classics.
Bournemouth GaSP promise a breath-taking evening of much-loved Music Hall songs and then they will take their audience through the years to the ever emotional songs from Les Miserables, as the Company begin their concert celebration of the history of musical theatre.
The My Fair Lady medley includes Get Me to the Church on Time and I Could Have Danced All Night, whilst the selection from Showboat features the unforgettable Ol’ Man River and Can’t Help Lovin’ Dat Man. There will also be a number of favourites from The Sound of Music, together with selections from West Side Story, Beauty & the Beast, Cats, Chicago and even more musicals.
The Company will not be forgetting their fan base on the night either, when they perform a selection of songs from Iolanthe, one of the most popular of all the famous Gilbert & Sullivan Savoy Operas. This will be a chance to get a sneak preview of the fairies who will be appearing at the Company’s main production of 2019, when Iolanthe will be performed at the Lighthouse in Poole in October.
There will also be a selection from what is perhaps the most famous Operetta ever written, Die Fledermaus or The Bat, which is Johann Strauss II supreme masterpiece.
The talented cast from Bournemouth GaSP – formerly Bournemouth Gilbert & Sullivan Operatic Society – invite their audience to enjoy music at its best when they present Beauties, Beasts and Barricades at the Regent in Christchurch on Friday 12 April 7.30pm.
The Bournemouth GaSP Spring Concert Tour can also be seen on Wednesday 10th April 7.30pm at the Allendale Community Centre in Wimborne; on Thursday 11th April 7.30pm at Pelham’s Leisure Centre in Kinson and on Saturday 13 April 7.30pm at Beaufort Community Centre at Iford.
