As a traditional seaside town steeped in quintessentially British pastimes, it’s no surprise that Bournemouth is home to lots of bowls clubs. Some date back as far as the early 1900s and our greens are as lush and immaculate today as ever.

We’ve got 10 outdoor bowling greens. That’s a lot of venues to choose from if you’re a touring club looking to set up a few friendlies during your stay or if you’re new to the area and hoping to join a local side.

The beauty of Bournemouth’s prime, coastal location is that you can enjoy a leisurely game on our clifftop lawns while looking out on panoramic views across the Isle of Wight in the west and Old Harry Rocks on the Jurassic Coast in the east.

The clubs are also situated close to some of the resort’s most picturesque beauty spots so in down time between matches, you can stroll through our extensive parks and gardens.

As well as welcoming visiting teams, most clubs run a series of open days and Try Bowls sessions for budding beginners. So, you can give it a go while you’re here and, who knows, you might be a natural!

Many of our clubs have bustling cafés and bars on site where you can revel in your victory or console yourself in defeat. In many cases, you don’t even have to be a member. Simply sit back, relax and enjoy watching others play.

Several clubs offer facilities for special functions and are set up to cater for all guests, including wheelchair access and disabled toilets.

So, why not have a change of ends and experience bowls beside the seaside in Bournemouth?
