All year-round Bournemouth is such a fantastic dog friendly holiday destination. Offering beautiful dog friendly beaches, stunning parks and nature reserves, welcoming eateries and most importantly a place to ‘rest and relax’ and have a well-deserved ‘good night’s sleep’ after a fun day on the ‘coast with the most’.
Dogs just love ‘playtime by the seaside’ and until 1 May, they’re free to enjoy the full stretch of our seven-mile coastline. Between 1 May and 30 September, they need to go back on the lead and keep to the prom and paths, but there are four specially designated areas where they’re allowed to ‘let their fur down’ all year round. You can find out more about these locations by visiting our beach pages. The best way to spend the day on the beach is to hire a beach hut on one of our dog friendly beaches.
Bournemouth and the surrounding area is a perfect location for a dog walking holiday. Our local nature reserves, parks, wooded chines and riverside walks offer you and your dog time to discover and explore hidden areas. Offering an abundance of wildlife, peace and quiet with time to take in the stunning views. Highlights include Hengistbury Head Nature Reserve, exploring our Upper and Central Gardens and a visit to Kingfisher Barn on the banks of the River Stour for a beautiful riverside walk (north of Bournemouth town centre). Take a look at the ‘Bournemouth Walks for you and your Dog’ leaflet.
