The ultimate British seaside resort, Bournemouth has been popular since it sprang up as a spa town in the Victorian era. People travelled to our unparalleled coast for the medicinal benefits of the sea air and pine-scented walkways. It was this influx of visitors that brought about a need for large hotels in Bournemouth offering picturesque views of the panoramic vistas. Ever since then, the most iconic images of Bournemouth feature majestic clifftop hotels, synonymous with the British seaside holiday.

Many of these period properties still operate as hotels today, and many of our large hotels have a rich history and stories to tell. Most of the hotels in the coastal East Cliff and West Cliff areas offer 3- or 4-star accommodation, with plenty of rooms to cater for the large number of families and groups that visit Bournemouth. In recent years, there’s also been a wave of renovation projects at these hotels to bring them back to their former glory.
