About Us
This winter, Gallery by the Lakes is proud to present an exhibition which promises to celebrate the diversity of contemporary printmaking, and take you on a journey through Print Land.
Imagine a place without smartphones and Zoom calls. A place where your to-do list consists only of the instruction to slow down, and to LOOK UP.
The Citizens of Print Land are 9 artists based in the South West who share a love of printmaking techniques including Wood Engraving, Linocut and Screenprint, and use these to create vibrant images that celebrate the beauty of our landscape, both in the country and the city.
With an emphasis on exploration, this exhibition showcases the Citizens of Print Lands' collective sense of curiosity and experimentation within their respective practices. Alongside work on paper will be a number of sculptural 'interventions'; printmaking that has outgrown its usual two dimensional format and literally leaps from the page, blurring the boundary between print and sculpture. Prepare to have your eyes bathed in colours, texture and pattern!
Throughout the exhibition, the group will also present a series of workshops and events that will invite you to try these addictive printmaking processes for yourself.
Working with print has allowed these 9 artists to take fleeting moments in time - a bird in flight, a walk along a beach, or a journey on an escalator - and immortalise them, share them, and celebrate them.
