The Company returns to the North Pole where Santa is getting ready for another busy Christmas but this year all is not as it seems! There is a new rival toy maker at the North Pole! Whilst all the ladies at the North Pole seem to find him absolutely charming, he ends up causing jealously amongst the boys. However, not everyone has fallen under his spell……
Meanwhile, Santa's chief toy maker, Sprout the Elf, helps Santa and his team getting ready for Christmas at the North Pole with lots of new ideas for toys to ensure that children all over the world have the happiest Christmas ever!
However, chaos is reigning elsewhere as Santa’s other little helper, Robyn, is getting in a tangle with all the new tinsel, whilst Squash is unable to find Benji and Bruce the Polar Bears, who are also supposed to be helping. Santa is really worried that there just won’t be enough Christmas magic to go round this year! Will Robyn ever get a full night’s sleep? Will Squash ever find Benji and Bruce? Will Santa be able to conjure up that unique Christmas magic for everyone this year, despite having a rival toymaker in town?
Christmas Spectacular is famous for its sparkling singers, stunning dancers and adorable babes who perform West End musical showstoppers, all of the Christmas Classics and of course the hilarious “If I were not on Santa’s team.” Benji and Bruce, the ever popular polar bears, will, of course, be on hand to ensure everything runs smoothly!
The Glad Rag Production Company are returning to Christchurch with another superlative Christmas show and this year the ‘Christmas Spectacular’ is set to feature cast and creatives plucked straight from London’s West End.
Christmas Spectacular features a lively score of seasonal hits such as 'Nobody Cares about Santa', the much loved 'If I were not on Santa’s team,’ White Christmas,’ ‘Rocking Around the Christmas Tree’ and many more, so there’s bound to be a tune to get everyone in the festive spirit!
Christmas Spectacular will have once again have its traditional blend of dazzling dancers, sensational singers, stunning dance routines and sparkling costumes. The lavish costumes are designed and produced by Sue Simmerling of Carry on Costumes in New Milton, whose theatrical credits include numerous West End hits including White Christmas and Elf the Musical. The cast this year will also feature performers from West End shows.
It is hard to know how Sue and her team have found time to make all of these stunning costumes because they are always so busy at this time of year making show stopping costumes for West End shows and the cruise liners, not to mention numerous Santa outfits for customers across the UK and beyond! Sue’s costumes have literally traversed the Seven Seas taking festive cheer wherever they go!
Sue is certainly the costumier to the stars! In 2012 Carry on Costumes even took on the one and only Paul O’Grady, AKA Lily Savage, making him the ultimate Widow Twankey in the production of Aladdin at the O2 Arena in London. Other major Panto stars to receive the full Carry On Costumes haute couture service include: Christopher Biggins, Mathew Kelly, Aled Jones, Tom Chambers, Claire Sweeney, Laurence Llewelyn Bowen, Brian McFadden, Denise Welch, Flawless, Ortise Williams (JLS), Sheila Ferguson, Ben Richards, Wendi Peters, Jon Lee, Maureen Nolan, Stephanie Powers, Les Dennis and Daniel Boys to name but a few!
This year Glad Rags are also very busy with costumes for the 2017 production of Elf: The Musical, which can be seen at the Theatre Royal in Plymouth and The Lowry in Salford starring Liverpool chart topper, Liz McClarnon, who is famous as one third of Atomic Kitten, as Jovie and Louis Emerick, best known as PC Walsh in Last of the Summer Wine, as Santa Claus
