Sandpolo at Sandbanks
Horses Thunder Back to Sandbanks. Sandpolo – Sandbanks
Sandpolo returns to Dorset on 9 & 10 July 2021.
Providing the four national tests for easing restrictions are met (as set out in the government road map) Sandpolo should be able to return on the 9 & 10 July. Should there be any delay to the easing of restrictions, back up dates are 17 & 18 Sept. See the website for the most up to date information.
The polo at Sandbanks (the British Beach Polo Championships) is the largest beach polo event in the world. When polo is played in an enclosed arena it has been referred to as ‘Ice Hockey on Horse Back’. Spectators are close to the action – they can fully appreciate the horsemanship, speed and gladiatorial nature of polo.
The beach parties wrapping up both days are legendary. Kicking off at 7.00pm with the last of the revellers leaving the beach at 1am top DJ’s and live bands entertain the huge crowds that stay on for the evening. A great opportunity to mingle with the players and celebrities and not to be missed.
Sandbanks is probably the most exclusive beach community in the UK. The infamous peninsular extends out across Poole Harbour on the scenic Dorset coast. It boasts upmarket luxurious homes and pristine ‘Blue Flag’ beaches. Poole is easily accessible with a fast rail connection (100 minutes direct from London Waterloo), good road access (30 minutes from Southampton) and 2 International airports within 45 minutes.
