Start your new tradition and celebrate Christmas in style with classical choir La Nova Singers. ‘Voices of Christmas’ is a night of festive musical magic and spine-tingling harmonies, on Tuesday 8 December at St Peter’s Church, Parkstone. Featuring Benjamin Britten’s ‘A Ceremony of Carols’, accompanied by acclaimed harpist Rachel Masters (London Philharmonic Orchestra).
This concert is a true celebration of the season, with festive classics and new arrangements of favourite carols - all designed to bring out the soaring beauty and agility of La Nova Singers’ twelve female voices.
The atmospheric ‘Ceremony of Carols’ sounds like stepping back in time: Medieval poetry combines with with exciting rhythms and harmonies, bringing to life the mystery and majesty of Christmas.
Special guest musician Rachel Masters is one of the UK’s foremost harpists and former Principal Harp of the London Philharmonic Orchestra. Amongst her many accomplishments, she has performed at Glyndebourne Festival Opera, and has recorded the Ceremony of Carols with the Choir of King’s College, Cambridge.
Dorset-based La Nova Singers have been delighting audiences across the South for more than two decades, combining vocal excellence with an eclectic repertoire - and a touch of glamour! Musical Director and soprano Michelle Nova leads the group, and they enjoy the versatile musicianship of Simon Gilliver as their regular pianist.
The choir are delighted to be back performing in St Peter’s Church in Parkstone, which in recent years has risen to become one of the local area’s most exciting live music venues. This is a space which combines a warm welcome with beautiful acoustics and genuinely special atmosphere: perfect for a concert that celebrates Christmas in style.
