Russell-Cotes Museum Late: Beside the Seaside
About Us
Join us for our Third Thursday Club Museum Late
Every third Thursday the museum stays open until 8.00pm with different activities taking place based on a particular theme.
This month, we celebrate the culture of being Beside the Seaside.
As well as having the perfect weather for it, there's loads going on. See the details below to find out more:
Live Painting Demonstration
Professional artist and tutor Dhanraz Ramdharry joins us from the Classical Art Academy to demonstrate the process of painting a reclining beauty.
Music inside and out
Enjoy live piano music with the wonderful Hope Schachter in the Main Hall, including tunes inspired by the sea, or sit out in the garden and experience the music of Czeckmate, playing flute and guitar.
Improvisations on the Sea
From 7.00pm we are joined by improvisation superstar David Wade who will play his own spontaneously composed tunes inspired by the sea.
Spotlight Talks
Discover more about some of our unique and beautiful seaside artworks with these short informal talks.
Object Handling
Get up close and personal with real museum artefacts from our theatrical and prop collections.
Deckchair Talk
Relax in a deckchair in the garden while discovering the history of Bournemouth and bathing in a talk by local author Vicki Goldie.
Cocktails and Cafe treats
Enjoy one of our cocktails in the beautiful setting of the Cafe Terrace, overlooking the museum garden and the sea. The Cafe will also be serving Pimms and Lemonade, white wine spritzers, ice cream, and a brand new summer treat - the Seaside Splat Sundae - not to be missed!
