About Us
"Wilkeswood Reggae Festival Warmup"Dubheart are a 6 piece LIVE reggae act : One of the only roots reggae bands in the world performing a fully organic, fully live dub reggae show. The band spent the former years crafting and perfecting their roots reggae sound, producing a few home made albums and playing clubs and festivals around the UK. Not long after splitting with original singer Nick in 2005, they were joined by David 'Daddy U' Mountjoy on keys, and soon a new perspective and sound was growing, but without a singer.
Not long after, the band met and began to work with the vocalist Zacheous Jackson and later also linked with French born MC/vocalist Tenja, and for a few years the two singers worked alongside one another, and in 2010 the band released their first single “Solid Foundation riddim” on 12” vinyl on the up and coming Karnatone label. With vocal versions from both Zacheous and Tenja, plus remix and dubs from Russ Disciple. The record earned the band the respect of a wider international audience in the live music and sound system scene, with Jah Shaka incorporating the track regularly into his set.
By now Tenja had become the band's regular singer and a year later on the Karnatone label they released their second single on 7” vinyl, a tune called “We Chant”, a heavy one drop with a strong message to stand up against injustice and inequality. Thanks to Rob Smith (RSD) it didn't take long for the tune to become an underground anthem in Japan with the anti-nuclear protesters after the nuclear fall out caused by 2011's tragic Tsunami.
From there Dubheart carried on performing, recording and practising hard to refine the show, and in 2013 entered the Rototom European Reggae Contest. After being selected from 1000's of bands, Dubheart went on to play the UK final in London, and then on to win the European final in Zurich, and were awarded the title of European Reggae Contest winners! Culminating in a tour of some of the best reggae festivals in Europe, including United Islands Czech, Summerjam Germany, Sardinia Reggae Festival, Reggae Sun Ska France, Sudoweste Portugal, Overjam Slovenia and Rototom Spain. On the tour the band performed tracks from their new album “Mental Slavery”.
After proving themselves to be more than worthy of playing on some of the biggest stages in the European reggae scene, the band are about as ripe and ready as they have ever been to hit the rest of the world with their vibrant, live and organic dub show. This is true roots rockers music, harking straight back to the heart of 1970's Kingston Jamaica..... with a fresh UK edge.
