About Us

Tiles Told is an ongoing collaboration between Gem Mordle and Bridie Cheeseman. Together they work from their studio in the heart of Bournemouth to produce bespoke illustrated tiles for interiors, murals and more.

Visit them at their exhibition on in Bobby’s, until 20th July. As part of the exhibition they have a community workshop wall, encouraging the visiting public to add a piece of their own art to the exhibition.

Gem Mordle is a maker of expressive high-quality handmade ceramic ware. With Home Thrown Studio, Gem creates limited edition or one-off, hand built and wheel thrown pieces. Home Thrown ceramics are playful, irregular and simple, specifically characterised by Gem’s bold and distinctive cobalt oxide mark-making.

Bridie Cheeseman is an illustrator who employs bright colours and exciting characters to produce work that combines detail and narrative with playful and vibrant imagery. Bridie’s work can be seen in contexts ranging from international fashion branding to illustrated educational material.

Gem and Bridie's works connect through elements of decoration and narrative, character and detail. Bold expression in combination with idiosyncratic visual imagery create a valuable, bespoke ceramic experience.
