Alum Chine Tropical Gardens • Bournemouth Beach • Bournemouth Pier • Bournemouth Lower Gardens, Central & Upper Gardens

Day 1 – AM:

Wake up to the scent of exotic flora and fauna at Alum Chine Tropical Gardens. With their origins in the 1920s, the shaded paths and wooded glades are perfect for quiet contemplation as you look out to sea.

Then jump on our iconic land train and take a ride back to Bournemouth seafront.

COFFEE: Bournemouth Seafront (suggestions include The Prom Café and seafront kiosks)

Finish your morning on a high – swoop into Bournemouth’s award winning beaches on the world’s first and only pier-to-shore zipwire – a thrilling, adrenaline fuelled ride over the waves.

LUNCH: Bournemouth Pier (suggestions include Key West Restaurant , Harry Ramsdens, or visit our restaurant page for more ideas and inspiration).

Day 1 – PM:

Take some time out and grab a quick siesta in the sun on Bournemouth Beach. Hire a deckchair, build a sandcastle or take a paddle in the sea.

ICE CREAM: Bournemouth Gardens (suggestions include kiosks) and find a great spot to sit and people watch!

Stroll through Bournemouth’s historic Grade-II listed Lower Gardens – sunbathe among the flower beds on the lush green grass, stop for coffee at the Pine Walk aviary which has been newly refurbished in 2022 and admire the stunning array of birds. Discover Bournemouth's past as you smuggle your ball around 18 holes of adventure golf at Smugglers Cove.

Walk on through the Central Gardens. First developed in the 1870s, they’re home to tennis courts, a playground and war memorial. There's also a great play area just by the tennis courts for smaller children. Trails are marked through the gardens, with information boards and signs along the way. You can also download an interesting tree trail which older children and big kids love! Here's a helpful map to print before you go!

The Upper Gardens was originally laid out as a private garden for the Durrant family in the 1860s and has a three continent theme – European, Asian and North American. There’s even a Gothic style Victorian water tower.
