A must-visit destination in the heart of Poole's Old Town, the newly reimagined Poole Museum is set to welcome visitors from Wednesday, 5th November, following a spectacular £10 million redevelopment.
After more than seven years of work, this beloved local landmark has been transformed into a world-class cultural attraction, doubling its public space and creating an unforgettable experience for all ages - and admission remains completely free.

What's New to Discover?
Prepare to be captivated by Poole's incredible maritime story, brought to life through state-of-the-art galleries and interactive displays.
- Journey Through Maritime History: Explore three brand-new maritime galleries; Harbour Life, Setting Sail, and Shipwreck! - that delve into the town's deep connection with the sea. Get up close with treasures recovered from protected shipwrecks.
- See the Star Attraction: Marvel at the 2,000 year old Poole Iron Age Logboat. A long-standing centrepiece of the museum, this incredible 10-metre-long vessel - the largest of its kind found in Southern Britain - is unveiled in a stunning new display space.
- Immerse Yourself in the Sound of the Sea: Step into a breathtaking digital exhibition that responds to your presence, bringing the power and majesty of the ocean to life around you.
More Than a Museum
The experience extends beyond the galleries. The project has beautifully restored three of Poole's most important historic buildings: Oakley’s Mill, the medieval Town Cellars, and the enchanting Scaplen’s Court.
After exploring, relax and refuel at the new café, The Old Town Salt Pig, offering delicious, locally sourced food in the historic setting of Scaplen's Court. Don't forget to browse the museum shop for unique coastal treasures and locally crafted gifts.
