Heading for the Beach? Grab a Free LV= KidZone Wristband to Keep Your Family Safe This Summer
BOURNEMOUTH, UK – Planning a trip to Bournemouth's famous coastline this summer? BCP Council and local insurer LV= are once again joining forces to provide a vital safety service, helping to give parents and guardians peace of mind on busy beach days.
The popular LV= KidZone scheme is back for its 18th year, offering a simple but effective way to quickly reunite lost children and vulnerable adults with their families along the 15 miles of stunning Bournemouth, Christchurch, and Poole coastline.
Last summer alone, the initiative successfully reunited 118 people with their groups, proving to be an essential part of the town's beach safety operations.
Starting from 1st July, free safety wristbands will be available for collection at all seafront offices and RNLI lifeguard towers across the seafront. From 19th July, dedicated LV= KidZone teams will join seafront rangers on the busiest beaches – including Bournemouth, Boscombe, Alum Chine, and Durley Chine – to hand out wristbands directly to families.
How does it work?
It's simple. Parents or guardians can write their name, a contact number, and their beach location on the waterproof wristband. If a child or vulnerable person gets separated, this information allows beach staff to reunite them with their family as quickly and safely as possible.
If you see a child or person who appears to be lost, you should immediately alert a member of the LV= KidZone team, a BCP Council seafront ranger (who will typically be wearing their bright pink t-shirts), or an RNLI Lifeguard.
Over the past 18 years, the scheme has distributed nearly one million wristbands, with 37,000 handed out last year alone.
Cllr Richard Herrett of BCP Council praised the long-standing partnership, stating, “The LV= KidZone scheme gives peace of mind to our community and visitors, especially on the busiest beach days. Thanks to the continued support from LV=, we have reunited thousands of families.”
Kester Sheppard, the RNLI’s Lead Lifeguard Supervisor, added, “We know how easy it is for young children to become separated from their families while on a day out at the seaside. These wristbands allow us to reunite worried parents or carers with their little ones quickly.”
Echoing this sentiment, Samantha Preece, Chief Brand and Communications Officer at LV=, said, “We’re proud to sponsor the LV= KidZone beach safety scheme for summer 2025, helping to keep people safe on the sand.”
