Sandy and quiet beaches which are good for bathing. The area is popular amongst dog walkers. Well-behaved dogs are welcome on site, but off the beaches, please respect that this is a nature reserve with plenty of rare and easily-frightened wildlife, keeping your four-legged friends under close control (on a lead is just perfect). There are numerous beach huts and basic conveniences such as toilet blocks, restaurant / café and kiosk. The closest car park is next to the entrance of Hengistbury Head and Hiker Café. A pathway for pedestrians and cyclists runs from the Hiker Café / car park to the Mudeford Spit beaches. There is also a land train for those who can’t walk the distance or would like to enjoy the land train ride. There is no lifeguard service at Mudeford Spit.
