SS Shieldhall, the largest original steamship still operating in UK, returns to Poole Quay this summer. A national heritage vessel run and maintained entirely by volunteers (and a charity), she will be alongside from the evening of 13 August to 11:30am on 17 August. While at Poole there will be a free open day and (ticketed) daytime sea trips to view Old Harry The Needles and the Jurassic Coast. Experience the golden age of steam by visiting the engine and boiler rooms and the teak-clad bridge and the mid-century saloon and bar area (food and drinks available). Alternatively come to wave us off or watch us docking back onto the Quay. A real blast (or toot) from the past! The Shieldhall crew have a great fondness for the annual Dorset "holiday" and the people of Poole, as this is a time when our beautiful ship can really be seen up close by anyone passing by.
