Beach Sprints is a fast-paced racing format where two boats go head to head in races lasting minutes. The fastest boat progresses, and the second placed gets knocked out.It starts with a sprint on the beach for one person from each crew. Rowers then row 250m out to sea, slaloming around two buoys, before turning around a third and heading straight back to shore. The final sprint up the beach is to a buzzer – with close races often being decided by a dive to the button. There are two days of thrilling races to find the British beach sprints champion. If the rowing wasn't enough to keep you entertained, there will also be a DJ, commentary and exhibitors. It is a great day out for friends and family to enjoy the beach and be the first to support the potential future Olympians compete, all for free!
** CHANGE OF LOCATION ** UPDATE 17:30 Tuesday 26 August: After reviewing the weather forecast and current conditions in Bournemouth, the Organising Committee has been working hard to look at alternative arrangements and we have now taken the decision to relocate this weekend’s Championships to Knoll Beach in Studland.
Safety will remain our number one priority and whilst there may still be a requirement to make further changes, we know that relocating to Studland gives us a higher chance of having as much racing as possible.
A full update has been sent to entry admins.
Please bear with us whilst we update documentation to reflect the changes.
The new location will now be at Knoll Beach, Studland, Dorset, BH19 3AQ.
