Bournemouth Writing Festival 2026

About

Free and ticketed writing events and activities to inspire you to write - whether you are a complete beginner or ready to publish.

The Bournemouth Writing Festival returns for its fourth year from 24–26 April 2026, welcoming over 1,000 writers, authors, and industry professionals to the sunny south coast for a weekend packed with creativity, learning, and connection.

With a mix of talks, workshops, panels, and masterclasses, the festival caters to writers at all stages — offering insights into everything from getting started, refining your craft, editing, and querying, to exploring publishing routes. Attendees can also book 1:2:1 sessions with literary agents for personalised feedback and pitching opportunities.

There’s plenty of inspiration beyond the formal sessions with creative activities like Writing on the Beach, poetry events, and literary walks. A lively marketplace and author hub gives budding writers the chance to meet experienced writers, get advice, and buy signed books—or even celebrate by holding their book launch at the festival.

Networking is central to the festival, with plenty of informal meet-ups and events in local cafes and restaurants, perfect for forging connections with fellow writers, agents, and publishers.

The festival also champions accessibility and community, offering free workshops for marginalised groups, including adults with additional needs, people experiencing homelessness and international students.

A dedicated Children’s Hub provides drop-ins and workshops for young writers.

Whether you're looking to hone your writing, pitch your work, connect with others, or simply get inspired, please join us - write by the sea.

Full programme and tickets will be released in January 2026.
