Dog Friendly Zones
Here in Bournemouth, we love to see dogs enjoying our spectacular stretch of coastline, whether getting plenty of fresh air on a clifftop walk or playing at the water’s edge in our designated dog zones. Here’s some information about where your four-legged friends can stretch their legs and how to make their visit to Bournemouth as enjoyable as possible.
Dog Walking Beaches
Between 1 May and 30 September, dogs may only be exercised in the following, signposted areas:
Branksome Dene to Alum Chine Beach Office
Middle Chine to Durley Chine
Fisherman’s Walk, Southbourne
For more information visit the Tourist Information Centre at Pier Approach, one of our seafront offices and pick up a Dogs on the beach leaflet and map when you're here. Dogs must be kept on a lead ont he seafront promenade, Piers, cliff paths and zig zags at all times.
The seafront welcomes responsible dog owners and we ask you to help us keep the beaches safe and clean for everyone to enjoy. Please clean up your dog mess and use the bins provided. If you forget to bring a bag, just call into the nearest beach office – we usually keep a few spare! Dog mess poses a health risk to other beach users. Our Seafront Team carries out regular patrols and you could face prosecution and a fine if you don’t pick it up.
If you're planning to be out and about with your dog this summer, it's important to know how to make sure you dog stays happy and healthy.
