November brings colder weather and darker nights but Christchurch offers plenty of events to keep yourself cosy and entertained.
If you’re interested in discovering more about Christchurch’s rich history, then there are a range of self-led walking trails to help you explore the local area.
Christchurch also features some great outdoor walks suited to all levels of fitness. The coastal path is a popular route which joins Mudeford up with Highcliffe, while longer inland routes into rural Dorset and Hampshire will whet the appetites of more adventurous ramblers. St Catherine’s Hill, which can be accessed from Fairmile Road, has some steeper hilly tracks perfect for dog-walking and mountain-biking too.
With six unique beaches, Christchurch is an underrated spot on the Coast with the Most. Friars Cliff and Avon Beach are popular family hotspots accessed from Mudeford. With its exclusive beach huts, Mudeford Sandbank is a picturesque stretch with views of Christchurch Harbour on one side and the Isle of Wight on the other, it can be accessed from Mudeford Quay via ferry or on foot from Hengistbury Head. Further east, Highcliffe Beach is a shingle and sand beach that is often quieter. Recent renovations to the zigzag walkway up to Highcliffe Castle and gardens give visitors a beautiful viewpoint of the seascape.
November brings the start of Christmas Tree Wonderland over in the neighbouring town of Bournemouth, the darker nights are illuminated with enchanting illuminations, the ever so popular Christmas Tree Trail and filled with plenty of festive family fun. The event opens from 15 November 2024 until 31 December 2024.
The Regent Centre, an Art Deco theatre and cinema, is the best place to enjoy a wide range of events in Christchurch, whether it's a film with the family, comedy nights with the adults or a breath-taking musical performance, you can take your pick this November.
When it comes to watering holes, there are few places quite so diverse as Christchurch. With such a long-standing history (the town dates back to the early Saxons), you’ll find traditional English pubs that demonstrate the wealth of the town’s architecture. Nestled alongside them are modern day wine bars often offering live music.
This picturesque waterside town attracts independent restaurateurs, familiar high street names as well as award-winning chefs. Some eateries offer wholesome meals while you’re nestled beside the fire in a classic pub-like atmosphere, while others provide the freshest catch-of-the-day overlooking the blissful waters of the marina.
