The West End comes to Christchurch for Christmas!

The Glad Rag Production Company present Christmas Spectacular 2018

The Glad Rag Production Company returns to the Regent in Christchurch for their seventh sensational year with Christmas Spectacular at the Centre from Wednesday 19 – Monday 24 December.   There will be six evening shows at 7pm to choose from on Wednesday 19, Thursday 20, Friday 21, Saturday 22, Sunday 23 and Monday 24 December.

In addition there will be three afternoon Matinees at 2pm on Saturday 22, Sunday 23, Monday 24 December, so it certainly promises to be a magical Christmas in Christchurch this year with this fantastic, festive, family show!

This year’s Christmas Spectacular is once again set at the North Pole at Santa’s village where his ‘Magic Toy Workshop’ is located.  Santa and his elves are busy preparing for another festive season when a mysterious letter from a friend forces Santa to leave the workshop in the hands of his elves. How will they cope without Santa to guide them? Then when people turn ‘frosty’ because Santa has disappeared and there may not be any new toys to wrap up as presents, who will step in to save Christmas?

Chaos is reigning as Santa’s little helpers, Sprout, Squash and Robyn, are getting in a tangle with all the new tinsel, whilst Benji and Bruce the Polar Bears, who are also supposed to be helping, have disappeared as well!  There is a real danger that there just won’t be enough Christmas magic to go round this year!  Will Santa return in the “nick” of time to conjure up that unique Christmas magic for everyone this year? 

Christmas Spectacular fans will be delighted to hear that  Mark Everitt, who played Jack Frost last year, will be returning this year and also Alfie Garston, who plays Squash, returns fresh from his triumph of winning the TV show ‘The Button,’ which aired on prime time BBC1 earlier this year.

Christmas Spectacular is famous for its sparkling singers, dazzling dancers and adorable babes who perform some sensational West End musical showstoppers, seasonal hits, all of the Christmas Classics and of course the hilarious “If I were not on Santa’s team.”  Benji and Bruce, the ever popular polar bears, will also be on hand to ensure everything runs smoothly!

The Glad Rag Production Company are returning to Christchurch with another superlative Christmas show and this year the ‘Christmas Spectacular’ is set to feature cast and creatives inspired by London’s West End.

Christmas Spectacular has a lively score of seasonal hits such as White Christmas, Driving Home for Christmas, All I Want for Christmas is You, It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year, Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas, Snow from White Christmas, Polar Express, Fairy Tale of New York and many more, so there’s bound to be a tune to get everyone in the festive spirit!

Christmas Spectacular will once again have its traditional blend of dazzling dancers, sensational singers, stunning dance routines and sparkling costumes.  Christmas Spectacular’s lavish costumes are designed and produced by Sue Simmerling of Carry on Costumes in Christchurch, whose theatrical credits include numerous West End hits including White Christmas and Elf the Musical. The cast this year will also feature performers from West End shows.
