This pretty little quaint town has so much to offer, from quiet, sandy beaches to historical castles. It’s a true gem with its quirky independent pubs, cafes shops and restaurants this lovely town is waiting to welcome you this summer.
Windswept hair and sandy toes
If it’s family fun and bathing you want then Avon and Friars Cliff beaches are the perfect place to spend the day. The beaches in this area are brilliant for bodyboarding and Mudeford is perfect for dogs as it is open to them all year round.
Highcliffe also has a wonderful beach with the majestic castle to visit and plenty of fun family activities. It’s set in a pine forest with a stunning walk down to the sea it’s definitely worth a visit.
Mudeford Sandbank is a picturesque place to visit and you can take the family across on the Mudeford Ferry.

Alfresco eating and food & drink
With its bustling café culture, Christchurch is a great place to rest and refresh after a busy day shopping or on the beach. If you want a special or romantic meal, then there are a few larger hotels in the area that offer excellent food and service. Or seek out one of the many independents, with pubs and bars a plenty too you will be spoilt for choice.
Beyond the beach
History buffs will love the local museum, Norman House and the magnificent Priory. If you haven’t had enough of walking this year then a short trip away is Hengistbury Head with its breath taking views. It’s literally buzzing with wildlife and has some truly spectacular walks.
If you just venture out a little bit further then you are in the heart of the New Forest. Why not hire a bike with the family and get some exercise whilst you enjoy the rugged beauty of the forest and meet the famous new forest ponies. There are several bike hire shops to hire a bike if you haven’t bought your own and pubs a plenty to replenish hungry cyclists.

For a day out a whole host of free entertainment is to be had at Summer Live! in Bournemouth town centre just a few minutes away by car. There will be over 100 music acts throughout the summer, and free children's activities and entertainment. Open 14 July - 28 August in the Square.
