Getting To Bournemouth

Bournemouth is centrally located on the south coast and serviced by public transport, good road links, an international airport and nearby ports.

By Car

Bournemouth is easily accessible by car, however why not consider leaving the car at home and making the most of Bournemouth's fantastic transport links?

If you do decide to travel by car to the South Coast's premier resort make sure you plan your journey ahead of time and look into visiting the sourrounding areas like the New Forest, Stonehenge and Salisbury.

All of these places can also be visited by local tours, bus and coach services. 

By Bus and Coach

There are plenty of coach providers offering great prices on travel to and from Bournemouth.

All coaches arrive in the heart of Bournemouth, right next to the train station, where taxis and local buses are waiting to take you to your hotel, the town centre or seafront.

Try More buses and Yellow Buses to get you around and Streamline Warren taxis or United Taxis.

Bournemouth has a great bus service with regular routes to Poole, Bournemouth Train Station and Christchurch. There are also buses which go further out of town to Salisbury, Swanage and the Purbecks - visiting Bournemouth and the surrounding areas couldn't be easier, just hop on and hop off!

By Train

Bournemouth is well served by the rail network with two railway stations in the Borough - the main Bournemouth station and Pokesdown to the East.

Crosscountry trains provide an excellent train service to and from various locations around the UK.

Many train operaters provide a comprehensive service to London Waterloo with a journey time of as little as 97 minutes.

Many lines also serve Southampton, Winchester and Basingstoke to the East, with Poole, Wareham, Dorchester and Weymouth to the West.

Other train lines serve destinations to the North with direct trains to Reading, Oxford, Birmingham & the Midlands, Manchester and the Northwest, Yorkshire (Sheffield, Leeds, York), Newcastle, Edinburgh and Glasgow in Scotland.

Bournemouth is accessible from all parts of the UK by train - check your local station for the best route to take.

By Air

A choice of scheduled and charter services are available to a large range of short and long haul destinations from Bournemouth Airport and others in the region.

Access to London's Heathrow and Gatwick Airports is easy and convenient from Bournemouth by train or by coach. 

By Ferry

The continental ferry ports are easily accessible from Bournemouth's neighbouring port of Poole (6 miles) or nearby Southampton and Portsmouth.

The fast ferry service linking the South Coast Ports of Poole, Weymouth and Portsmouth with the Channel Islands of Guernsey and Jersey, plus the Western Channel ports of St Malo and Cherbourg.
