About Us

Come and join us down on the stunning Bournemouth beach for a charity 5K walk on Remembrance Sunday, earning a wonderful finishers medal, whilst raising funds for the armed forces charity SSAFA.

At least £5 from every entry will be donated directly to SSAFA (£10 if you select both medals).

The route starts at pier approach, the first leg is walking the 2.5km to the end of Boscombe pier, where you will collect your token, taking in the fresh air and beautiful sandy beach, present your token when back at the start to receive your wonderful full metal finishers medal.

Everyone is welcome - families, dog walkers, wheel chair users, anyone can cover the distance.

Walkers can set off anytime between 9am-930am, this way we can still pay our respects and observe the service at the Bournemouth War Memorial in the Central Gardens.

The Remembrance Day Service takes place at 10:57am, and the Two Minutes Silence is marked at 11am. The Service lasts for 40 minutes and is then followed by a Wreath Laying Ceremony.

You are not obligated to raise any further money, as £5 from every entry will go to the armed forces charity SSAFA, but we will provide sponsorship forms on request, there will be prizes for those who raise the most.

Feel free to enjoy the beach and take your time, maybe have a quick drink and sit down at the halfway Boscombe pier perhaps, this event is about enjoyment and participation, enjoying the life our heroes sacrificed theirs for.



On the day:

Sign in will be on the Bournemouth pier approach between 9.00-9.30am.

We will give a token to each person, please keep these safe. The first leg of the walk is walking up the promenade to the end of Boscombe pier, if you wish to you can also walk on the sand, you will see our person standing on the end of the pier, here you exchange your token for a finishers token, and make your way back down to Bournemouth pier where you can exchange your second token for a finishers medal.

We will be there until everyone has finished, no time limit, but we will be respecting the 2 minutes silence at 11am, so please be aware of this if you finish at that time We will take photos of finishers if you allow us too, and general photos throughout the walk.

As detailed above if you would like to take in Bournemouths remembrance service, it takes place 5-10 minutes walk from the finish line.

There will be an abundance of parking from the town centre car parks this time on a Sunday, most are a very short (downhill :) ) walk from the pier approach, and plenty of parking along the beach too.

We will be in regular contact by email and facebook posts to all entrants, please ask any questions you may have at any time.

Dogs are permitted to be on the beach at this time of year, so bring along your four-legged friend, usual laws apply about picking up mess etc.
