About Us

A great fun day out for families to discover more about Poole's maritime heritage.

• Children will be able to build and decorate their own pirate boat. (People on hand to help make the boats.)
• Stories about the conditions and hardships of life in the 17th century. Growing up in old Poole was very different from today. The population was only about 1500 people, the town surrounded by heathland and open fields. It was virtually an island.
• The Exmouth Shanty Men (Saturday) and Roaring Trowmen (Sunday) will be conjuring up reminiscences of life at sea with a chorus of sea shanties.
• The Scaplen's Court Players will premiere a specially commissioned play - "Elizabeth Hyde - Poole's glorious revolutionary, 1688". It tells the tale of Poole's very own female spy!

Plus - guided tours of Poole Old Town

Based on the current layout and access arrangements, Poole Museum has set a limit on the number of people in the building at any one time. So, we have divided each day into three, one and a half hour sessions. All the activities will take place within each of the sessions, plus you can book separately for the Old Town tours.

Please note there is currently no wheelchair access to the first floor of Scaplen's Court where some of the activities take place. Visitors are asked to wear masks inside and observe social distancing etc.
