Performed by Bob Whitley and Lee MacKenzie
'A musical story telling of love divided by the greatest voyage of exploration the world has seen.
Bob Whitley (guitar and mandolas) and Lee MacKenzie (cello) perform in 16C costumes and take you back 500 years to a time when the sailors’ greatest fear was falling over the edge of the earth. On the 20th September 1519 Ferdinand Magellan and his 260 crewmen set sail from Spain in 5 small ships on the greatest voyage of human exploration ever undertaken.
At this time sailors believed in gigantic sea monsters, demons, boiling seas and that the earth was flat. Leaving their wives and families behind to wait in hope and pray for their safe return, they faced almost certain death. Their greatest fear was falling over the edge of the earth.'
