Made by Katie Green presents The Imagination Museum: Mayflower 400

"If you were about to embark on a journey you knew was dangerous, what would you take with you?"

In 1620, a small group of men, women and children from Hampshire and Surrey were on a ship called the Mayflower with others from across the country when it undertook a historic journey from England to America lasting 66 days.

In The Imagination Museum: Mayflower 400, three dancer tour guides will use movement, text and music to look at what it was like to make that journey, thinking about the impact for those who travelled, and the people they met in America.

This free performance (lasting approx. 30 minutes) will be repeated throughout the day and will be accompanied by screenings of a new community film, created in collaboration with local children, young people and families.

Responding to artefacts, stories, sites and ideas collected during the project's journey to Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire, Hampshire and Plymouth over the past three years, The Imagination Museum: Mayflower 400 will look again at the story of the Mayflower passengers, considering who they were and why they were making a journey they weren't prepared for.

A story about a group of ordinary people, their life-changing journey, determination, and the extraordinary things it makes people do.
