Bournemouth ambassadors of innovation

"Bournemouth Tourism is looking for volunteers for their innovative ‘Ambassador Welcome Team’. The initiative would see uniformed ‘Ambassadors’ in and around Bournemouth town centre and gardens available to answer visitor’s questions about the local area."

The idea of the initiative is to provide information about the area to new visitors, or suggest tourist ideas to increase their enjoyment of the area, as and when they need it.

Phil Smith, Resort Services Co-ordinator for Bournemouth Tourism, said: “We are looking for people to act as ambassadors who are proud of Bournemouth and the fantastic local areas that we have. Bournemouth is a leading seaside resort as shown by a recent survey, putting Bournemouth above Spanish resorts. To stay as a market leader we are continually looking at new ways to maximise the enjoyment people can have while staying in Bournemouth. This scheme along with the Tourist Information Bike, which offers mobile information along Bournemouth seafront, highlights our ambition to bring information to people at locations convenient to them.”

Jon Shipp, Night-time Economy Manager for Bournemouth Tourism, said: “This is a great opportunity for people with some free time, to help others enjoy the area. Although the position would be voluntary they would be rewarded knowing that they are providing a valuable service to their local community.”
