The Friday Family Fiesta will not only see events at Pier Approach, but all the way through Bournemouth’s famous Lower Gardens, throughout the evening, and right through until 10.30.

The fun will start at 8pm, when the Lower Gardens and Pier Approach will come alive with children’s entertainment. Planned for the evenings are stilt walkers, costume characters, storytellers and magicians to entertain children and their parents, joined by amazing fire jugglers from 8.30-9.30pm.

Tiny boppers can strut their stuff at the under-10s disco at Pier Approach from 8.30-9.00pm, and budding entertainers can take to the stage during the 45-minute Children’s Talent Show which follows.

Everyone is welcome to join in the massive countdown to the 10pm Firework Finale, which is sure to thrill spectators of all ages.

And the family fun won’t stop there, with music and entertainers continuing to delight right through until 10.30pm.

Cllr Beverley Dunlop, Cabinet Member for Economy & Tourism said, “Friday Nights in Bournemouth will be the best ever, with a real focus on family entertainment. The ever-popular firework display will receive its biggest build up yet, and I’m confident the whole evening will prove to be a huge boost to tourism whilst providing fantastic entertainment for local residents – families and young people alike.” She continued, “I am especially delighted that town centre club venue 2XS is working with us to offer young people a genuine, alcohol-free, clubbing experience every Friday throughout the summer, from 7-11pm.”

Superintendent Stuart Katon of Dorset Police, Bournemouth & Poole Division, added, “I am pleased to be able to support the Friday Family Fiesta concept. It builds on the successful elements of previous years’ events whilst adding something new which I hope will bring an improved, more family-focused feel, to the evening.”

Friday Family Fiesta is the first step towards delivering the Enchanted Nights package, which will require further commercial support in order to take place in 2009.
