SURF’S UP IN DORSET - Europe’s first artificial surf reef is currently being built in Boscombe, Bournemouth and is set to put the holiday resort firmly on the UK surf map.
After days of waiting patiently for the high winds to drop, and despite blustery winds and miserable weather, ASR Ltd completed a highly visual part of the land-based reef construction process yesterday (5th August).

Boscombe’s surf reef has been making waves in the media this week as construction starts on the first artificial reef in the northern hemisphere.

Bournemouth Borough Council has unveiled artist’s impressions of what will be the best beach huts in the world. Having invented the beach hut back in 1908, Bournemouth still rents out the oldest hut in the world and is now reigniting the British passion for beach huts, in Boscombe, the future site of the first artificial surf reef in the northern hemisphere.
