A clean sweep

"Two of Bournemouth’s newest restaurants have been presented with gold awards for exceptional standards in food hygiene and cleanliness. "

Beachfront restaurant, Aruba and the The Print Room, located on Richmond Hill, were acknowledged for their excellence after excelling in Bournemouth Borough Council’s food award scheme, designed to assess the food hygiene practices of restaurants and cafes within the town.

Using three subject headings and criteria from the Food Standard Agency’s Code of Practice system of scoring, Aruba and The Print Room were inspected and acknowledged for their food handling practices and procedures, the structure and cleanliness of the premises and food hygiene management systems.

Managing director of Aruba and The Print Room, Andy Price, comments: “Hygiene and cleanliness are extremely important within the food industry today. Whilst it is the responsibility of the local authority to conduct regular inspections of food businesses, it is vitally important that the restaurant itself ensures excellent standards of hygiene and cleanliness are met and achieved daily. As a result of this, we currently have 10 members of staff on nationally recognised training courses organised by Bournemouth Borough Council, which we hope will maintain the standard of food hygiene practices at Aruba and The Print Room.”
