The 2012 Cupcake Camp is coming to the Bournemouth Pavilion

Preparations are well underway for the South West’s second Cupcake Camp to take place in Bournemouth and on 17th of March at 2pm the Bournemouth Pavilion will fling its doors open to the hundreds of hungry cupcake fans who have been eagerly anticipating its arrival.

Last year, the success of the Cupcake Camp was so phenomenal that this year a committee has been formed to help with the organisation of the event. Cake Heaven’s Margaret Hitchman has joined forces with Melanie Kiani of Simply Events and BH Live, the leisure and cultural trust which operates the Bournemouth Pavilion, to bring you an event that’s even bigger and better than before!

If you’ve never heard of a Cupcake Camp, organiser Margaret Hitchman explains; “Cupcake Camp is a gathering together of bakers and cupcake lovers to celebrate the deliciousness of the cupcake and in the process raise money for charity. Last year, we asked bakers from the South to donate their cupcakes to the Cupcake Camp.”

She adds; “Last year, each cupcake cost only £1 and raised almost £1,700 for Macmillan Cancer Support. This year, we are pleased to announce that we are supporting the NSPCC and are hoping to have 4,000 cupcakes donated to feed the crowds, helping to raise vital funds for the charity's ChildLine service in its 25th anniversary year! We also have cupcake competitions, live music, entertainment, cake decorating, artists, stallholders and shopping, crafts, children’s activities and a raffle PLUS all the cupcakes you can eat in one place. It’s going to be a great family fun day out!”

Jo Winsborough, NSPCC community fundraising manager for Bournemouth, said: “We’re absolutely delighted that the organisers of the 2012 Cupcake Camp have decided to support ChildLine in its 25th year. I’m sure the event is going to be a huge success and I’m looking forward to having a taste of some of the beautiful and delicious cupcakes on display.”
