Dire Streets are a professional tribute band fronted by John Brunsdon, a lifelong guitar picker and admirer of Mark Knopfler's style of playing.
He is supported by some very accomplished musicians who are also members of some of the UK's best-known tribute bands.
The band's set includes shorter songs from the early era such as 'Lady Writer' and 'Down to the Waterline' right through to complex album tracks such as 'Telegraph Road'.
The band also faithfully reproduce many of the famous extended performances from the legendary Alchemy, Live Aid and Mandela Tribute concerts - including Sultans of Swing, Tunnel of Love and Brothers in Arms.
Dire Streets make no attempt to look like the original so no headbands or pink suits, just brilliant songs skilfully played with the enthusiasm and respect they deserve.
Dire Straits were arguably one of the most significant acts of the 70's and 80's. Smack bang in the middle of Punk Rock's hayday emerged the Knopfler brothers, they formed a rock n' roll band but instead of following the current popular trend their music took a more bluesy route.
Soon followed mass success and a cult following of fans. Dire Streets pay homage to the band with a set featuring all the hits including "Sultans of Swing", "Money for Nothing", "Brothers in Arms", "Walk of Life", "So Far Away", "Romeo and Juliet" and "Tunnel of Love".
