More than 1.3million people, over 900,000 ice creams, 12 miles of PA wire, 300 speakers, deckchairs, parasols and sunbeds sold out and it was the first event in history that saw the Vulcan fly three times…2009's More Bus Bournemouth Air Festival was an incredible event - if it were ticketed it would have been a sell out!
Bournemouth Air Festival – general information:
Located along Bournemouth seafront, in between Bournemouth and neighbouring Boscombe’s Piers, the Festival offers fantastic cliff side views giving an eye level vantage point of the great air displays with the bay as a stunning backdrop. Setting the Festival aside from other aviation based events, ‘Night Air’ evening entertainment, in the award-winning Lower Gardens (a pedestrianised walk from the seafront via Pier Approach) takes visitors into the evening with a superb programme which in 2009 included the Royal Marines Combat Display Team, Royal Marines Band, heliosphere acrobat, hot air balloon glow and street entertainers.

2009 Bournemouth Air Festival – the results:
- More than 1.3 million people over 4-days
- For every 100,000 people there were approx 80,000 ice creams sold
- On Saturday - ½ million ice creams sold, the Pier reached 4,000 people capacity and was closed, a first for a very long time, Saturday was the biggest Red Arrows crowd to date so far in 2009 and by 10.30am 3,000 deckchairs sold out...not fogetting 900 sunbeds and 500 parasols
- First time ever the Vulcan had flown three times at one single Festival/ event

- The Air Festival attracts an equal gender split (in 2008 this was 49% / 51%) with ages ranging from 0-15years through to veterans and OAPs.
- Appealing to the young and old, both families and friends.
- Over 1.3 million people attended in 2009, over 750,000 in year one, 2009
