2. Fabio Capello World Cup Beach Hut
The Bournemouth Tourism PR Team painted a beach hut in the colours of the St George’s Flag, numbered the beach hut 1966 and invited a Fabio Capello look alike to Bournemouth for the day.

3. Coast With The Most word record attempt for the most watersports performed in one day.
To promote the variety of watersports available along the Bournemouth and Poole coastline, Bournemouth & Poole worked with Guy Cribb, 13 times UK windsurfing champion who performed 21 different sports in one day. The day chosen was 21st June, The Longest Day.
Our water sports attempt got some great coverage, even Chris Evans on BBC Radio 2 talked about it. Have a look here:

4. The new billboard poster at Waterloo
Victor Graphics has designed a 6-metre by 3-metre advertisement, which promotes family holidays, Bournemouth Beach and the Air Festival. The Highcliff Marriott Hotel has put funding into the advert and so is displayed on the poster. The advert will be displayed at Waterloo Station from Thursday 24th June. The advertisement will run throughout the summer period. (See attached)
5. iPhone App
An iPhone application will be available to download with all the latest Air Festival information. The app will have all the key facts, dates and events; providing visitors with a direct guide of the Festival; on their iPhones.
6. Bournemouth Bicentenary
The Bournemouth Bicentenary is mentioned in as many press releases as possible along with it being an ongoing topic on our Bournemouth.co.uk website. The Bournemouth Bicentenary features on our homepage and trade and consumer newsletters.
7. Summer Live & Carmen Live & Wimbledon
Bournemouth Summer live kicked off on the 11th June with a Fashion weekend and Lazy Town children’s event. More recently, George Bizet’s Carmen; screened live in the Lower Gardens with a turnout of nearly 200 people.
Coverage included radio interviews with BBC Radio Solent and several piece in the Daily Echo, prior to the event.
The Lower Gardens is now showing Wimbledon for free all, which proved to be very popular on it’s first day – 21st June.

7. Pre-School
Good Food For Little People – achieved coverage in the Echo and Primary Times. Supported by a Primary Times competition that has appeared in 500,000 copies. Competition is a night’s stay at the Hallmark Hotel and the use of a Boscombe Beach pod.
Also running a comp on www.thebabywebsite.com. A press trip review has been published with a positive summary of the resort. Bournemouth now also has a presence on NetMums website.
Press Trips are being organised to support the campaign.
A baby-friendly beach hut is being created on Durley Chine Beach. We are taking a normal black and red beach hut on the award-winning Durley Chine beach and turning it into an all-singing, all-dancing pastel green baby friendly beach hut with a kitchenette, storage, baby changing facilities, beach furniture and toys.
In July and August it will be available for hire by families. In September and October it will be used for press trips and competitions.
8. Bournemouth launches own weather forecast
The weather forecasting story – stats from Toby The story has gained great positive coverage for Bournemouth including: BBC News, Meridian, ITN, Radio 4, Radio 5 Live, all local radio stations, most of the national daily papers and their online services and Metro in London. AVE £166,000 circ. 18 million.

9. Bournemouth Air Festival
National competition – featuring a half page 25th July on the Daily Express and £2000 of prize value. Working closely with the Highcliff Marriott which is also hosting catering in the bandstand and the patron event on the Friday night.
Brochure page plan in its new landscape design is being finalised by Bournemouth Tourism and the Daily Echo. We have a drip feed of Daily Echo coverage planned over the next few months. Working on sponsor handouts to be given to attendees at the corporate hospitality tent. Also working on sponsorship packs which will be sent out to leads in the following two weekes after the Air Festival.
Aircraft on the roundabout will be happening this year. More PR support from the Royal Navy and RAF meaning more planned pre-publicity for the Festival.
Patron scheme now has 35 patrons, more are always welcome.
