New Forest and Stonehenge Tours

Heading north out of Bournemouth this tour takes you to view the stunning ancient monument of Stonehenge and then after some time in the City of Salisbury winds back through the wilderness landscape of the historic New Forest.
Taking a scenic route via the mysterious ruins of Knowlton Church, you will arrive at Stonehenge before the crowds. One of Britain's greatest treasures, Stonehenge has seen many changes over its 5000 year history. Its bold enduring presence draws you in, making it a place everyone must visit. (An entrance fee is payable to enter the Stonehenge site)

Coming down from Salisbury Plain, past Old Sarum, you arrive in the ancient city of Salisbury. The skyline is dominated by the sublime form of Salisbury Cathedral, once the tallest building in England and home to one of the few remaining copies of the Magna Carta. After visiting the Cathedral, you will have time to have some lunch whilst exploring the small lanes and timber framed buildings of this beautiful medieval city

The New Forest, covering an area of nearly 150 square miles, was given Royal protection in 1079 as a hunting ground for the first Norman king, William the Conqueror. Recently designated as a National Park, the New Forest is actually a mixture of woodland, heathland, open pasture and settlements. Its unique character and ecology have developed over the years through the way it has been worked, the people who live there and the animals that run free across it.

See the famous New Forest ponies and learn how the livestock and wildlife are managed by the Verderers, Agisters and Keepers. The tour will take you to some of the quieter parts of the forest, showing you the varied landscapes, pointing out places of special interest and explaining how all the different aspects of the forest work together.

This inspiring tour is unmissable for its unparalleled insight into the areas surrounding Bournemouth - make sure it's part of your stay!
